This crypt is a time-tested, undemanding medium-green aquarium plant that forms a relatively low medium-green lawn after some time by growing runners. Its leaves are wider, and it grows much faster than the tiny Cryptocoryne parva. Its emerged form can develop leaves on very long stalks, under water they stay a lot shorter though. For a long time it has been popular under the erroneous name of "Cryptocoryne nevillii", but today it is counted among Cryptocoryne x willisii. C. x willisii "lucens" looks rather similar, but Cryptocoryne x willisii "nevillii" has shorter more ovate leaf blades.
